Young forward Tommy Cronin struggled for game time having broken into the Fulham first team squad from the youth team in 1954 – which perhaps wasn’t surprising considering he had to try and displace Bobby Robson and Johnny Haynes. Cronin left Craven Cottage after a couple of appearances and later made 30 appearances for Reading before becoming a successful businessman.
