Winger Jack McDonald moved from Bournemouth to Fulham for £12,000 in the summer of 1948. He immediately helped the Whites win the Second Division title, missing only one game, scoring nine goals and laying on countless assists for a formidable forward line of Arthur Rowley and Bob Thomas. McDonald struggled in the top tier and was eventually replaced by Northern Ireland international Johnny Campbell. He signed for Southampton in 1952.
