Striker Samuel Abel scored his only goal for Fulham on his debut in a 4-3 defeat at Blackpool early in the 1933/34 season. He struggled for regular game time under Jim McIntyre and left for Queens Park Rangers after only one season at Craven Cottage. Abel operated as a special constable during the Second World War and later became a groundsman at Wembley Stadium.
