Reliable full-back Joe Birch played 195 games for Fulham between November 1931 and July 1937 having moved to Craven Cottage from Bournemouth. He helped Jim McIntyre’s side win the Third Division south title in his first season with the club and was awarded a benefit match against Queens Park Rangers in 1937 in recognition of his service to Fulham.
