Welsh full-back Sonny Gibbon was a regular in the Fulham first team almost as soon as he signed for the Whites from hometown club Merthyr Tydfil in March 1929. He made 127 appearances for the club before being tragically in a motorcycle accident outside Deal in Kent in April 1935 at the age of just 25.
