Andy Ducat, a duel England football and cricket international, joined Fulham from Aston Villa in 1921. He made 69 appearances for the Whites in three years before retiring from playing to succeed his manager Phil Kelso in the dugout. Ducat led Fulham to the quarter finals of the FA Cup in 1926, beating three top flight sides on the way, but his team struggled in the league, finishing twelfth and then nineteenth in the Second Division, and he was sacked in 1926. Ducat, a successful cricketer for Surrey who played one Test for England in 1921, died of a heart attack at Lord’s Cricket Ground in July 1942 at lunchtime during a wartime match between the Home Guard and Sussex.
