Small and skilful, Wattie White made more than 200 appearances for Fulham in thirteen years at the Cottage. He became a much more defensively-minded player in the latter stages of his career, having starred in the Bolton side that reached the 1904 FA Cup final and finished second in the Second Division the following season. He joined Fulham from Everton in 1910 and missed two matches in his first two seasons before the outbreak of the First World War. Having served as a gunner, White became the older statesman of the side and played until he was 40.
