Scottish utility player Jimmy Torrance racked up in excess of 350 first-team appearances for Fulham during more than 15 years at the club in the early twentieth century. He was originally a forward when he joined the Whites from Glasgow outfit Ashfield in September 1910 but became a regular in Phil Kelso’s side when he was switched to wing half and occasionally operated as an attack-minded central defender as well. He was part of the Fulham side that reached the Victory Cup final in 1919 and continued to feature for the first team until he lost his place to promising youngster Bert Barrett. He died of lung cancer just short of his 60th birthday.
