Left half David Lloyd played a pivotal role in ensuring Fulham were promoted to the Football League. He made more than a hundred appearances, either side of a break to serve in the Boer War, for the Whites between July 1899 and August 1904. Lloyd could play either in defence or midfield but was often utilised in attack as he was magnificent in the air, with the majority of 35 goals for Fulham coming from headers.
