Roy Hodgson hopes that Dickson Etuhu will not miss more than two games after hobbling out of Fulham’s draw at Wigan on Saturday with a twisted ankle.
The Nigerian had lined up alongside Danny Murphy in Fulhjam’s midfield since the departure of Jimmy Bullard in January. He has been much criticised for his peformances but I thought he looked useful in the 45 minutes we saw from him at the JJB Stadium.
As it stands, Etuhu will be unavailable for two difficult away encounters: at Swansea in the FA Cup on Saturday lunchtime and the trip to Old Trafford the following Wednesday.
Hodgson said:
I sincerely hope it is not any more serious.
His critics have been unfair. He turned in a near MoM performance against Portsmouth. However, I would think that Dacourt is in prime position to make that defenseive midfield role his own
Wouldn’t agree with above comment – he’s certainly no world beater but think it’s evident why RH bought him now, as far as the bigger picture is concerned. He appears uncomplicated and plays the easy ball well, which is an attribute.
Dacourt, I agree, oozes class & even at 34 is a far more accomplished footballer – looking forward to seeing more of him.
Can’t wait for a glimpse of Giles Barnes, too …. could he make Old Trafford his own?
