There seems to be some confusion over who will be the permanent replacement for Ange Postecoglou at Nottingham Forest.

You’d think season managers would steer clause of stepping into the Maranakis show after the ex-Tottenham manager lasted only 39 days. But various reports from across Europe suggested yesterday that Forest had already held discussions with former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini about taking over from Postecoglou, whilst the Sunday Times claims that Sean Dyche is waiting in the wings.

Marco Silva was a favourite of the Forest owner – and the pair have worked together previously – having been mentioned in dispatches as a potential replacement for Nuno. Sky Italia’s Gianluca di Marzio reports this morning that the Reds are ready to pay his £7m release clause and that he is their leading candidate to fill the vacancy. This contradicts reporting from the Daily Telegraph yesterday that Forest would baulk at that outlay and opt to approach Silva this summer, when he might opt to bring his time with Fulham to an end.

It seems that the identity of Forest’s new manager changes depending on what paper or outlet you are reading. Nothing new there then.
