Fulham have confirmed the signing of Brazilian winger Kevin from Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee believed to be in the region of £34.5m.
The 22 year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year contract at Craven Cottage, with the Whites holding an option to extend that deal by a further twelve months.
Kevin has told the club’s official website this evening:
“I am happy to be in the biggest league in the world, at a huge club, too. I’m very flattered for everything that’s happening in my life, and I hope to score a lot of goals this season and do great work here in Fulham.”
The exciting young winger burst onto the scene by breaking through as a teenager at Palmeiras, winning the Brazilian title in his first season with the club and making only eleven senior appearances before joining Shakhtar Donetsk in a £10m move. Kevin helped Shakhtar win the Ukrainian league and cup double in his first campaign with the Miners and was voted their player of the season last year.
He scored from the penalty spot as Shakhtar overcame Servette to reach the UEFA Europa Conference League group phase last week and leaves the Ukrainian side having scored seventeen goals in 57 appearances.
I am so happy we got this one on a permanent deal he is young and a real talent he will excite the Fulham fans and cause real problems to defenders with speed close control and dribbling ability and he has finishing touch am anxious to see him him in a Fulham shirt. COYW.
Whilst really pleased I still can’t understand what are TK motives for high pressure last minute purchases. We have bought two players both of whom were identified early. One from the last window and the other weeks ago.
We lost another young winger from Chelsea (did Wilson reject Leeds move?) a very promising young CF and a holding midfielder. Too many plates? Is there any evidence we got better deals? The result is we have to integrate two new players now rather than in pre season and we are short in two key positions.
I really like the support our current owners provide with this one crucial exception and cannot see how the approach gives anything other than negative outcomes the worst of which could be Marco giving up in frustration and walking away!
On a final positive note I’m really excited with the two purchases as all I’ve seen and read suggest real upgrades
