Marco Silva has told Sky Sports that Fulham must make new signings before the end of the summer transfer window otherwise ‘we have a big problem on our hands’.

The Fulham head coach, speaking ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Manchester United at Craven Cottage, once again took aim the Whites’ woefully slow close season recruitment. He said:

“We have to [make more signings], we don’t have another chance. Luckily the window is still open. If not, we have a big problem on our hands. It’s not normal at this stage of the season that we have just signed one free agent player. You won’t find one [other club] that didn’t spend one penny up until now. Just Fulham Football Club.”

Silva insisted he needs new additions to supplement a small first-team squad – reiterating his comments ahead of the start of the season where he suggested the first two games might be a write off due to the only new arrival being back-up goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte.

“We are light, nothing to hide about it. It’s not the perfect or ideal scenario for us at all, it’s far from that. We’ve got to do things completely differently than (what) we did in the last two months in terms of prep for the next ten days. It’s probably not enough time. but we’ve put ourselves in this position. Now we have to sort the problem.”
