Fulham want to offer Rodrigo Muniz a bumper pay-rise should he stay beyond the summer transfer window, according to Teamtalk’s Dean Jones.

The Whites are working hard to rebuff interest in the Brazilian striker from Serie A side Atalanta and the Bergamo-based outfit, who can offer him Champions’ League football, and Jones suggests that the two teams are still around £10m apart in their valuation of the 24 year-old. Muniz is interested in joining Atalanta but has not agitated for the move – and was praised by Marco Silva for his professionalism after scoring a stoppage-time equaliser at Brighton on Saturday.

Jones reports that Muniz remains happy at Fulham – but will need a new deal to reflect his enhanced status as a goalscorer, who has scored vital goals for the Whites over the past eighteen months. The former Flamengo forward rejected a contract offer earlier this summer but both Silva and Fulham want him to remain at Craven Cottage. Atalanta, who made Muniz their top target after selling Mateo Retegui, are reportedly ready to move on to other targets if Fulham don’t lower their asking price immediately.
