Reports from Ukraine claim that Fulham and Shakhtar Donetsk are £4.3m apart in their valuation of Brazilian winger Kevin.
The Whites have had two bids rejected for the 22 year-old, who has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Premier League club. Sport Arena suggests that Shakhtar are holding out for around £43.1m (€50m) to do the deal in this transfer window. They confirm reports that the Brazilian’s agent is heading to London to try and hammer out a deal in a meeting on Tuesday.
The former Brazilian under-20 international has already verbally agreed the details of a five-year contract at Craven Cottage.
Frustrating that we’re being led a dance on this one.
4m is a lot of money, but if he’s as good as the YT vids indicate, then we need to weigh up whether or not that’s a sound investment. However, as a cautionary tale, even Eddie Johnson, who was also an international iirc, looked like a top player on his YT reels. Hopefully our scouting is a bit more accurate with Kev.
Incredible that we’re even talking about spending 50m on a player when we used to have to scrabble around for tens of thousands of pounds.
Shakhtar seem to have a knack for signing talented young Brazilians for a song, which makes me ask why we aren’t able to do that.
Back when we played them in the Europa I remember them having this tricky Brazilian winger. Wonder whatever happened to him?
If everyone is playing hardball we must not let Muniz go for less than 50m he’s proved himself in premiership , Kevin is a raw talent who may not make it. Is it worth the risk?
Shaktar are looking to get even with us after the Manor Solomon deal. Would rather get Neilson back on loan and spend some money elsewhere.
I imagine the recruitment team, which includes Marco, obviously have to gauge, injury potential problems aside, how much better Kevin is than Nelson. But, it seems to me, we know what Nelson is capable of doing in the EPL, we don’t know what Kevin is!
I know the feeling
I get how this is very hard for the club. Is this kid a £50m player? Doubt it. Is Nelson worth the risk again? No. He’ll miss half the season same as he always does. Is Hojland worth what he’ll cost? Absolutely not. Is it worth paying Sterling’s wages for a year? No.
Genuine affordable options which are worth pursuing are few and far between. But there have been lots of players available last summer and this, that others have managed to get over the line which were clearly worth being in the conversation for, and we apparently weren’t. Hutchinson, Adingra, Guiu, Summerville, Tierney…
Sure we can’t compete when players have offers on the table with big clubs in Europe, but we apparently can’t even be more convincing and decisive than Sunderland, Burnley, Everton, Palace, etc…
Really interesting viewpoints AL accurately reflects what I and I’m sure many others feel as we have gone through the wringer these last few weeks.
Muniz staying and Kevin joining to play WITH him. Why can’t we dream to be more?
We haven’t spent a single penny yet ffs hurry up and get some players signed all the other clubs have managed it so it’s not that difficult.
Are we willing to risk signing this lad for the money, when we can get three players. Nelson, chukuwuse and Sterling on loan !! We have to be very careful with deal !@
We should sell Traore to forest (pure profit) and Pereira and use that money for Kevin and Reiss Nelson. No need to replace Andreas as we have ESR, King and Wilson to cover that role. Also a young Left back as cover, a 3rd striker option and a Defensive midfielder and we would be done.
