Atalanta have set a Tuesday deadline for Fulham to agree to sell Rodrigo Muniz – or the Serie A side will move on to other striking options, according to reports from Italy.
Alfredo Pedulla suggests that the Bergamo-based club won’t increase their last offer – having ‘broken the €40m barrier’ to the Londoners and will move to the likes of Leece’s Nikola Kristovic and the Genk forward Tolu Arokodare, who was rumoured to be a Fulham target earlier in the window.
Gazetta dello Sport reports that the Whites have angered Atalanta by being slow to find a replacement for the Brazilian, who ‘seems to have gradually convinced himself to stay’ at Craven Cottage. The Italian sports paper reports on yesterday’s events at Brighton and Hove Albion, describing Muniz as celebrating his stoppage time equaliser by ‘asking the fans for a club scarf, kissing it and tossing it back’. They also disclose that Fulham have ‘kept the wall high’. The Premier League side have reportedly failed to lower their £44m asking price – leaving Atalanta’s offer short of their valuation, even including the proposed add-ons – and also identify Kristovic as a cheaper option, with the Montenegrin international available for around £25.9m.
Both Silva and Muniz’s post-match comments suggest that they expect the 24 year-old to be available for selection against Manchester United – but Fulham fans have been here before in the past few seasons with Aleskandar Mitrovic. Joao Palhinha and Jay Stansfield.
Reference your last paragraph regarding we have been in this situation before with Mitro etc. the way Rodrigo celebrated yesterday was genuine, I feel he is different to those you mentioned. His commitment along with Marco’s management and playing style has made Rodrigo the player he is today.
If Rodrigo stays, the Khans need to support this commitment and loyalty also shown by Marco and other members of the squad, targeting honours and Europe next season.
We all want Rodrigo to stay.
We have angered Atalanta, bloody cheek what do they expect at last we are digging our heels in and they would do the same I hope Muniz stays then we can move on I secretly think he wants to but outside influences are swaying him
Good !! Find someone else!!.The club must not sell less a quid less..
Atalanta knew the price. Didnt want to pay it. Jog on.
What a Bloody Cheek Atlanta have. He’s our player, contracted to us. They knew the asking price at the outset and after yesterday the price should go up. My advice to Atlanta… put up or shut up!!
Glad they are angry ! Shows we don’t give in . Agree that Muniz no way acting like Mitro . I think it must be so tempting to move for Championship League football – But his Agent must be pressing so hard. ….. Khan needs to give him a pay rise he deserves and a commitment that he is our first choice forward and he will sign a new extended contract . He and Silva must have quite a strong bond and bringing in Kevin might also change things both showing commitment and a fellow Brazilian up front .
Sorry all … that should have read Champions League Football not Championship!!!?
I would be happy to only bring in a winger this transfer window if we can keep Muniz. Giving him a new contract on proper money would be like a new signing. He’s on less than 10k a week. Deserves a proper pay rate after what he’s done for us .
I agree keep Muniz is a priority give him a decent contract then if that affects not being able to pay for Kevin then go back to Nelson as a winger. Look for a third back up striker not on an excessive salary bearing in mind whoever we sign will not play much as Muniz and Jimenez will ahead of him> i think a defensive mid field player with a little pace is a priority.
Should never have sold Stanfield
Forget Stansfield. Scored only 17 times in League one and 10 of them were penalties
Not in the same league as Muniz who managed a goal every 100 mins in the Prem last season
Just pay
Muniz what he is worth he has proved himself and we really need to keep him we would have to pay big money for another striker as good as Muniz so wake up TK and get this sorted as you are the problem here.
Muniz, has been steadily improving over his time with us. Goal scoring, leading the line, including distribution. The best is still to come. He must be kept at our club. Hopefully we will make our mind up re left winger, we should know what we want by now. I am a supporter since the 1940’s.
i am sure Muniz agent is the main culprit, It is to his financial advantage if a transfer takes place. I am would like to know if we have offered Muniz a similar contract to that being offered by Atlanta then I feel we have done all we can to convince him to stay. If not why not
