The Daily Telegraph’s John Percy reports this afternoon that Nottingham Forest are talking to Fulham about a deal to re-unite Adama Traore with his former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

Nuno has made the recruitment of a winger a top priority following Anthony Elanga’s departure for Newcastle United and Forest believe they can snare the Spaniard, who was so successful at Molineux under the Portuguese head coach, cheaply since he has eleven months at left on his current Craven Cottage contract. But Marco Silva would be loathe to lose the former Barcelona forward, who has scored four goals and added twelve assists since arriving at Craven Cottage on a free transfer in September 2023.

The former Aston Villa and Middlesbrough winger has been a useful outlet on both flanks, initially as a substitute, and then a starter last season before he lost his place to Harry Wilson. Traore memorably set up Alex Iwobi’s stoppage-time winner at Old Trafford last February and his understanding with his former Wolves team-mate Raul Jimenez, who joined Fulham’s pre-season training camp on the Algarve this morning, means the Whites will play hardball with Forest, who want to supplement their squad ahead of an imminent Europa League campaign.

Fulham beat the Reds 3-1 in Faro on Saturday. The 29 year-old was a second half substitute in that game and is happy working under Silva in SW6. The Cottagers are casting a wide net for a new winger themselves and are in negotiations with Arsenal about a second season-long loan in succession for Reiss Nelson.
