Fulham are set to sign French goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte from Montpellier in a £500,000 deal.
The 34 year-old is expected to have a medical at Motspur Park on Monday after agreeing terms on a proposed two-year contract. The veteran custodian is leaving La Paillade after Montpellier were relegated from the French top flight – a decision borne out of necessity given that Lecomte is one of the club’s highest-paid players.
The Paris-born goalkeeper, who made more than a hundred league appearances for Lorient, has played 131 games in two spells with Montpellier. He was called up to the French senior squad for games against Germany and the Netherlands by Didier Deschamps in 2018 after an injury to Hugo Lloris, but remains uncapped. French journalist Bertrand Queneutte confirmed that the deal for Lecomte to become Fulham’s number two is in place on his X account this morning.
The Whites are expected to loan out or sell Bernd Leno’s current understudy Steven Benda once Lecomte signs on the dotted line.
Apart from last season in a poor side his stats are very good looks like a good signing to cover Leno
Anybody is better than Bende. As he is back up to Leno and does not cost too much I consider it to be a sensible signing
Just checked him on you tube seems a giveaway at that price brilliant shot stopper he reminds me of Leno but it did not show any clips from corners.
