Paris Saint-Germain have joined the race to sign Fulham’s sixteen year-old starlet Seth Ridgeon.
Several of England’s leading sides, including Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea, have offered the England under-17 skipper the chance to begin his professional career with them as he stalls over signing the scholarship that Fulham have offered him. Ridgeon, who turns seventeen in September, has starred for Fulham’s age-group sides and was promoted to Hayden Mullins’ under-21 squad towards the end of last season.
Reports from TBR Football and France now suggest that the interest in one of Fulham’s finest young talents extends beyond England. Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly made an approach to Ridgeon about joining the European champions, whilst Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund are also keen on signing the young attacking midfielder. Fulham are fighting to retain Ridgeon’s services – but it remains to be seen where he will be playing his football at the start of the new season.
Unlikely to see him in a Fulham shirt again.
What fee will we be entitled to receive
Very small compensation fee if he moves abroad, whereas the fee would be set by a tribunal if he stays in England.
Fulham know they lost him have to keep offer on table to get there compensation fee which will be even smaller if he goes abroad. Great system for the big clubs
If staying in UK would it be a similar fee to Harvey Elliott with a percentage sell on clause. The system is really stacked against the smaller clubs in the premier league and all clubs in the lower leagues. It seems so unfair
Would be substantially less than Elliott, because Harvey had played several first-team games for Fulham and been on the bench, whereas Seth hasn’t.
I have to say the Youth policy at Fulham has provided some excellent players and deserves a big vote of thanks for this excellent work. Very well done and long my it continue. As for the youth players we have lost. It is such a shame for the future of Fulhan football club! No loyalty it would appear [ I am 72 so what do I know].
We can only blame ourselves on this one. Another player slipped through the ranks when we are in the perfect environment to develop these players. I personally think its down to Marco not really giving the youth a chance to even get on the bench for match days (josh king aside) and that is down to him being so demanding of bringing this club into europe.
As for the lack of loyality and “it only happens to smaller clubs like us”, we have done this to a few other clubs like Stansfield from Exeter.
We really need to come up with plans on how to create pathways for these youngsters, whether that is “feeder” clubs (talking football manager terms). This cant go on and you have to wonder what is going on above in the boardroom and the academy management to allow this to continue to happen
I think Wimbledon and Leyton Orient are after him as well. You just cannot stop all these rumours
just like all the others we produce then lose,
Fulham FC academy is a very fertile nursery for the (so called) big clubs.
Now that his head has been turned,we dont stand a chance retaining Seth.
He might want to have a quiet word with Ryan and Fabio before he gets too carried away.
So sad for us.
