Fulham full back Devan Tanton has revealed that Chesterfield’s hunger for promotion was the main reason why he has returned to the Spireites for a second loan spell.
The Colombian international made only eleven appearances in an injury-hit loan last year that saw him return to Craven Cottage in January. But the attacking right-back is delighted to be working under Paul Cook once again, after Chesterfield wasted no time in enquiring as to his availability this summer.
The 21 year-old told the Derbyshire Times that he jumped at the chance to become Town’s second loan signing from Fulham of the summer – following in the footsteps of midfielder Matt Dibley-Dias:
“When you see how confident the club is to keep pushing, to push for promotion, the ceiling is very high, or non-existent with this club. You always get the sense that the team wants to do some great things and not just get comfortable in a league.”
“I have always felt a very strong backing from the coach. He has always put a lot of confidence in me so I want to repay his confidence. I just want to get going. There are a lot of familiar faces, I am excited for this team.”
Promotion from League 2? That’s something to shot for. I think it has dawned on him that he won’t make the grade at Fulham.
‘shoot’ of course.
