Fulham have signed the Latvian attacking midfielder Andrey Stolcers from Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee of £2m.

Stolcers, a Latvian international, is currently on loan at Spartak Moscow and has been given permission to play for the Russian champions against Arsenal in the Champions’ League before flying to London to join up with the First Division leaders. The transfer is subject to Stolcers receiving a work permit, which is not expected to be a problem as he is a regular in the Latvian international set-up and has been playing in Europe’s premier competitions for the best three seasons.

The 26 year-old, who burst on the domestic scene by scoring fifteen goals for Skonto Riga as they won the Virsl?ga, has scored seven goals in nineteen appearances during his loan spell at Spartak.

Fulham manager director Michael Fiddy said:

“The club is looking forward to Andrejs joining us next week. He is a very talented attacking player with great pace and ability, and we believe that he will be a huge addition to the squad.”
