Sky Deutschland have confirmed that Fulham are keeping taps on Borussia Monchengladbach’s talented midfielder Rocco Reitz.

Florian Plettenberg confirmed previous reporting from Jack Kelly that the Londoners are looking to sign the Germany under-21 star. Plettenberg revealed that Whites’ scouts watched all of his performances during the tournament in Slovenia, where the Germans reached the final before being beaten in a five-goal thriller by Lee Carsley’s England side. Reitz, now 23, made two goals in the tournament and has shone for Gladbach over the past couple of seasons to become one of the most highly-rated midfielders in Germany.

His ability to play in a number of midfield positions having started out as a holding midfielder and operated both as a more conventional central midfielder and as an number ten over the past year with Die Fohlen is particularly attractive to Fulham head coach Marco Silva, who is seeking to reshape his squad over the summer as the Cottagers look push into the top half of the table. But Gladbach are determined to keep hold of their talented midfielder, who is contracted until 2028, and his release clause of £17.2m only becomes active next season.

That hasn’t stopped a whole host of suitors from expressing an interest in signing Reitz, with West Ham United, Brighton and Hove Albion and Inter Milan known to keen to sign him. Plettenberg says Fulham have yet to make a formal offer to Gladbach, but our sources suggest they may test the water with an enquiry in the coming days.
