Fulham have completed the capture of Everton captain John Collins in a deal worth £2.5m.

The Whites are delighted to have secured one of Jean Tigana’s top targets as they look to push for promotion to the Premiership. The Scottish international passed his medical at Motspur Park this morning and has signed a three-year contract to be reunited with Jean Tigana, with whom he won the French title in 1997 and reached the semi-finals of the Champions’ League.

Collins jumped at the chance to work with the French legend again in SW6 and leaves Goodison Park having made 62 appearances and scored four goals in two seasons under compatriot Walter Smith. The former Hibernian and Celtic midfielder was voted in the Scottish FA’s national team hall of fame having played every minute of the Tartan Army’s group games both at Euro ’96 in England and the 1998 World Cup in France, where he scored a penalty against the eventual winners Brazil.
