Fulham midfielder Josh King played 83 minutes as England opened their European Under-19 Championship campaign with a 2-2 draw against Norway in Ploiesti this afternoon.

Sunderland Wembley hero Tom Watson – who has since signed for Brighton and Hove Albion – drove England in front but an accomplished Norwegian side equalised through an outstanding individual strike from Alexander Rossing-Lelesiit. Both teams hit the woodwork before a brilliant volley by Sondre Granaas gave Norway the lead.

England pushed for an equaliser throughout the second half, but they couldn’t score until ten minutes from time when Tottenham Hotspur centre forward Mikey Moore converted a penalty after Shumaira Mheuka had been shoved in the penalty area by Jonathan Norbye.
