We lost one of the quintessential Craven Cottage characters in the last fortnight. Lifelong Fulham and London Broncos fan Cliffie Dean, a feature at Fulham’s fixtures for decades complete with his passionate and vocal support, passed away sadly and suddenly – leaving a void in the lives of everyone who knew and cared about both him and club.
There will be a tribute in this afternoon’s matchday programme – but Cliffie’s friends and family have asked if the Fulham faithful would be willing to show their appreciation for a fanatical Fulham fan with a rapturous round of applause in the 67th minute of this afternoon’s game.
Cliffie was a fervent Fulham supporter, who followed all of the club’s sides and the Broncos, throughout his life. He was also a supporter of the numerous campaigns to safeguard both Fulham’s future and that of Craven Cottage, including Fulham 2000, Back to the Cottage and initiatives run by both the Fulham Supporters Club and the Fulham Supporters’ Trust. He had a particularly memorable way of indicating his displeasure – so if you wanted to shout ‘khazi’ during the minute’s applause, I’m sure it would make the man himself smile.
Rest in peace, Cliffie. COYW!
It’ll be very sad at Craven Cottage without Cliffie. I’ll be clapping for you, Cliffie.
