Fulham and Crystal Palace are interested in signing the 1. FSV Mainz midfielder Nadiem Amiri this summer, according to Sky Deutschland.
The reports from Germany also suggest that a leading Bundesliga outfit are also keen on signing the 28 year-old attacking midfielder, who gave a cryptic answer to the press about where he would be next season following Mainz’s 2-2 with Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
The German international, who can also operate as a conventional central or defensive midfielder, scored eight goals and added five assists in 31 appearances as Bo Henriksen’s side finished sixth and qualified for the UEFA Conference League play-offs. Amiri, who has won seven senior caps for his country after helping the under-21s win the European Championship title in 2017, has made more than a hundred Bundesliga appearances for TSG Hoffenheim, where he came through the academy, and Leverkusen.
Sky Deutschland suggest that Mainz would be looking for around £17m for the midfielder, whose contract at the MEWA Arena expires in three years time. Marco Silva is known to be seeking midfield reinforcements at the Cottage this summer, but Palace’s FA Cup win and qualification for Europe might make the Eagles a more attractive proposition.
