Fulham head coach Marco Silva has revealed that right back Kenny Tete is ‘in contention’ to face Premier League leaders Liverpool on Sunday afternoon – with a final decision on the defender’s fitness likely to be made closer to kick off team.

The Dutch international suffered a serious knee injury in the second half of the 2-2 at Anfield in December and has been out of action since then. Timothy Castagne has deputised for Silva’s first choice right back since then, but the Portuguese boss admitted that Tete’s return to full training represents a real boost as the Whites prepare to face the overwhelming favourites for the Premier League title.

Silva told his pre-match press conference at Motspur Park this afternoon:

Kenny Tete is training 100 per cent with the team and it’s a matter of time for him to be in the squad list. He is going to be in contention to be involved. We have one more training session tomorrow and we will assess how he recovers today, but he has been working very hard. It is a question of whether he has the fitness to start. It could be Liverpool, it could be other games, it will be my decision. Soon, we are going to see him involved in the squad list.

Silva also spoke about Harry Wilson’s recovery from foot surgery. While the Welsh winger will miss the meeting with his former employers, Wilson – a scorer of several important goals for club and country this season – has an outside chance of being involved against another of his old clubs in AFC Bournemouth on April 14th.

“It’s nice to see Harry Wilson around the squad, on the grass, doing some individual work. He will be with us soon and that’s great news in terms of the wide attacking areas of the pitch, where you miss a player of his characteristics, who can help the team.”
