Antonee Robinson admitted Crystal Palace deserved their victory at Craven Cottage yesterday – and that Fulham need to respond quickly with Tuesday night’s trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers an ideal opportunity to put things right.

The American left back, who once again captained the side, was disappointed with the Whites’ meek surrender as well as Marco Silva’s side failure to register a single shot on target over the course of the ninety minutes.

“It’s a really tough one to take. Going up against a team like that, we know they’re going to come with physicality, aggression. If you concede first it’s going to be hard to get back from that. The chances weren’t really falling for us today – we were obviously trying, but no shots on target, so we didn’t really create anything clear-cut. We’re obviously looking to try and climb the table and get as many points as we can, so it was a good opportunity for us today, a winnable game, but in the end it does feel like we deserved to lose, and we’ve got to give credit to them [Crystal Palace].”

Robinson felt referee Rob Jones should have awarded a foul on Calvin Bassey or Joachim Andersen before the latter diverted Maxence Lacroix’s header into his own net for the opening goal and insisted Fulham were too easy to play through before the crucial second scored by Daniel Munoz.

“The first one is disappointing, but lads are getting pushed in the box, which isn’t given. In the lead up to it, for me, Calvin’s fouled. He’s been clamped by two people – whether one’s got the ball or not, the other one touches him which means it’s a foul, so that was a bit disappointing. Second goal was just naïve from us – a counter-attack, and lads have just got to make fouls, take a yellow card, just end the attack. We haven’t done, and they’ve punished us, which any team can in the Premier League.”

The left back now wants the Whites to hit back at Wolverhampton, who will head into Tuesday’s game at Molineux with confidence after an impressive win at AFC Bournemouth.

“We’ll dust ourselves down, we’ve obviously got the game Tuesday so we’re going to have to get our minds ready for that game now, recover and go again, have a positive reaction like we’ve had many times this year.”
