Fulham have contacted Mainz 05 to register an interest in signing their right back Anthony Caci, according to reports from France.

Footmercato reports that the Whites and Aston Villa have both made enquiries about the 27 year-old defender’s availability. Fulham’s interest is likely to stem from the revelation that Dutch international full back Kenny Tete is likely to be out of action until April after sustaining a serious knee injury in last month’s draw at Liverpool.

Caci, who has also attracted interest from Valencia, Benfica and Borussia Dortmund, has contributed four assists in his last seven Bundesliga appearances since being deployed as right midfielder by Bo Henriksen. The versatile former Strasbourg man, who came through French youth football as a left back, has made 84 appearances for Mainz, scoring four goals, and made 118 appearances having come through the Strasbourg youth set-up.
