Marco Silva insists his team selection and the manner of Fulham’s 4-1 win over Watford last night shows how seriously he takes the FA Cup.

The Portuguese head coach made seven changes from the side that snatched a late draw against Ipswich Town at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon – but his starting line-up was still much stronger than many had predicted with trips to West Ham United and Leicester City in the Premier League to come in the next ten days.

Silva told his post-match press conference that the Whites want to go as far as possible in the world’s oldest club cup competition.

“Firstly, and this is important, we were really serious. The approach, the way we planned the game, the way we didn’t change anything in terms of preparation, the communication with the players – and the players showed that the way we approached the game was serious. It’s a great competition, an unbelievable competition and one everybody loves in this country. Everybody can dream to shine in the competition. We want to go as far as we can.”
