Fulham full back Kenny Tete demanded his side improve after a frustrating 3-1 home defeat by Aston Villa.

The Whites went a goal up inside five minutes when Raul Jimenez finished off after a long ball upfield from Bernd Leno, but the German goalkeeper was left helpless when Morgan Rogers’ shot was deflected off Calvin Bassey. Ollie Watkins buried a header after half time and Fulham’s cause was not helped by the sending off of Joachim Andersen.

“Obviously, it’s a disappointing feeling. I think we started really well, 1-0 up. We were unlucky with the goal for us. You get the penalty, which was saved – and you know that it is going to difficult. It happened, you know you have to push for more. It is what it is. At half time, we speak, we changed some things and the game plan but it was going to be hard when we went 2-1 down.

It was not our day. We can do better. We trained really well, but we didn’t do what we had to do. I think we can look in the mirror and say that we have to better and train harder and hopefully we can do better next week.
