Birmingham City could yet pull off the transfer deadline day signing of Jay Stansfield – after an apparent breakthrough in the intensive negotiations between the League One side and Fulham.
Blues have indicated a willingness to improve on their £10m bid that was rejected this morning by the Premier League side but the precise structure of the deal is still the subject of frenzied discussions. Stansfield, who scored thirteen goals in 37 games at St. Andrew’s last year, has reportedly agreed personal terms with City.
Any deal is dependent on Fulham signing a replacement for the England under-21 international before the transfer deadline. Head coach Marco Silva has previously insisted that he wanted Stansfield to stay at Craven Cottage as part of his first-team squad.
Why Sell Stansfield . Silva wants to retain him. He is a good young player with a good future and he can score goals. It does not make sense to me
Jay will be up there with the likes of wayne rooney amd others of that Ilk. He definately has an eye for goal he is an out and out goal scorer Such a clever footballer at the age of 21
Andy you must be mad or drunk to think that. Rooney had already won a couple of prems by stannos age. Don’t get me wrong, Jay will become a good footballer, but let’s not get carried away
This ownership is the one we’ve been hoping for all our lives as Birmingham fans. How many teams can say they can take 55,000 fans to Wembley for the equivalent of the today’s Johnson Paint Trophy? This is equivalent of the Tigana days for Fulham. With a new 63000 seater stadium to be built in the next 5 years the ambitions are huge. What will be will be but just two years ago we were playing to half a stadium because two stands had been left to fall into a state of disrepair. I’m absolutely amazed at the Stanno purchase. If it’s £12m to £15m then that’s more than we’ve spent in total on one player than in total in the last four years. KRO.
