Fulham have agreed a fee £30m for Crystal Palace centre back Joachim Andersen, according to the Athletic – paving the way for the Danish defender to return to Craven Cottage.
The 28 year-old, who spent a season on loan with the Whites when they were relegated from the Premier League in 2020/21, has starred since joining the Eagles from Lyon in the summer of 2021 for £19m. Andersen has made 112 appearances for Palace, scoring three goals, but seems set to return to his former club as part of Marco Silva’s summer rebuild. Palace had been seeking around £40m for one of the key players, but a period of intense negotiations appears to have delivered a compromise.
Andersen, who made 31 appearances across all competitions in his season in SW6, has made 36 senior appearances for his country. He is set to be joined as a new signing in Silva’s squad by Burnley midfielder Sander Berge, who is poised to have a medical at Motspur Park.
Great deal for Palace.
Decent defender, but at 28, and didn’t have a great Euros, 20 to 25 absolute max.
Don’t get our transfer policy at all. Would rather get Chabolah, but assume he doesn’t want the move.
Fantastic if we can get this done. Loved him when we had him on loan. Come on Fulham.
28 to 30 is prime for a centre back. He could have 6 great years with us. Andersen and Bassey will be the best combo in the Prem. Great signing.
What another return, this is looking really exciting.
Honestly this summer transfers have been going really good.
Cannot wait what more is to come.
Another amazing signing for us.
First time I can remember Fulham going big and signing top players in every position that needs attention.
Best transfer window we’ve ever had? Discuss
Overall positive but bit pricey although should feel at home quickly. Prone to minor and occasional major errors based on pace and speed of movement but good strong presence and good long passer. Happy with recent business including Berge, like the team balance, competition and bit more squad depth. Will Pereira be a late departure?
Good signing happy to see he’s coming back good pro
I don’t know whether or not £30 million Is too much for this signing, but it seems pretty clear that £47 million was too low for Joäo Pahlinha. I actually don’t blame Tony Khan, however. Joao had already agreed on personal terms, and Fulham had promised we would let him go. Bayern Munich knew all that and wasn’t going to pay a wildly overpriced amount. There was nothing we could do.
Anyway I’m excited about this signing. COYWs!!
At last! A player who can be a REAL captain!
Loved him when he wore our colours! With him and Berge we should be punching much harder. Obviously hoping that relegations are in both these players’ past!
Like Sander a no-nonsense disciplined Scandinavian player. As we all know this boy comes with a sweet right foot and loads of experience. A perfect match for either Cuenca or Bassey. I agree that the fee is insane, but the price for players is generally out of sync at the moment.
This is great news. Another top quality Premier League player and one that we never wanted to leave.
Undoubtedly the strongest squad we have ever had, even without João.
Prices are irrelevant as fans. Just trust the club’s management to keep the ship afloat.
Great signing and a prefect replace for Ream – solid, safe and reliable and good on set pieces.
Superb signing. With his defensive skills and with his, and Berger’s, distribution out of defence, we could be a very dangerous counter attacking team.
Great to see Andersen back, sure it’s a lot of money but if he stabilises the back and stops the leakage of goals against then he is worth every penny. Quite excited to see the whites in action
Another great signing with a few more to come according to Marco,Andersen is a Leader would make a good captain another proven PL player can’t wait to see him and Berge etc
