Aberdeen have agreed an initial £500,000 fee with Fulham for Scottish under-21 defender Ibane Bowat, according to the Daily Record, but will need to beat two Austrian clubs to the defender’s signature.
The Dons have held preliminary discussions with Bowat and his representatives having thrashed a deal with the Premier League side for the highly-rated centre back that could rise to more than £1m if add-ons are activated. But the Scottish Premiership outfit face significant competition from LASK and Red Salzburg as they race to complete another summer signing.
Bowat, who previously attracted interest at AC Milan, has shone for Fulham’s age group sides and enjoyed excellent loan spells with Den Bosch and TSV Hartberg. He has a year to run on his current Craven Cottage deal but is likely to move on permanently before the end of this window to gain regular first-team football. The 21 year-old has won five under-21 caps for Scotland.
Another one gone from the academy….. how many more are we going to give away. I am sure we will buy him back for 5m in a year or so….
