Fulham have ended their pursuit of Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, according to Sky Sports News.
The Whites have decided to focus on other engine room targets in the closing weeks of the transfer window having failed to reach agreement with the Old Trafford club over their valuation of the Scottish international captain. Fulham had a £17m offer knocked back in June and saw a second bid worth around £20m rejected last week – and are understood not to be willing to meet United’s asking price of around £40m for McTominay.
Sky Sports suggest that the Cottagers could now revive their longstanding interest in Brazilian international Andre as they seek to sign a successor to Joao Palhinha before the start of the new Premier League season.
Wouldn’t go over 27m plus add ons for him.
At 27, it’s money we won’t get back and better options out there at that price.
Solid player, but only at Utd this long because they’ve been in decline for years.
We wasted so much time on him and for what, now hurry up and get Andre and stop haggling over the 5 million we need to get the deal done.
That is good news He did not want to join us and at his age would have represented good value. we let it drag on far too long. Lets see if we can meet halfway with Andre with final offer with a time limit on our offer, otherwise we will end up with a last minute scramble for a mid field player. Also urgently need aright sided central defender. Only 10 days before our first match against Man United and McTominay!!
Go and get andre now!!
Leave him to rot on Man U’s bench.
Go and get Andre or Richard Rios. There are plenty of younger options out there.
It was McTominay,s perogative to say he did not want to leave Old Trafford and not to move to the Cottage so you cannot blame him. It is beyond belief our club continue to pursue signing him at an inflated price, when other players like Andre wanted to play for us. Hopefully that is now the end of this long drawn out issue, what a waste of time. Let’s get in with finding another midfield player before the season starts. I would like to see a marginally increased take it or leave offerbfor Andre and then if not accepted cast our net wider to find a decent younger mid player at a reasonable price, Smith Rowe showed he wants to be a part of our club
Finally!!
Agree totally with John W a total waste of time. The penny has finally dropped. This sort of pointless chasing gives you no faith in the negotiating strategy. I admit to not being an expert but Andre looks a far better player anyway. Probably missed out on him now. Hope it wasn’t us vacillating, if it was this option is dead and buried.
Why are we pursuing a player who does not want to play for our great club let’s move on from this get Andre. hopefully a right sided CB maybe Carlos from Villa and maybe one more let’s go up to Manchester ina positive mood and stuff em like instead season hopefully our Andre and Carlos? will be in place by then also give Jay Stansfield a Start up there
Well if he didn’t want to play at Fulham It should have been said in the first very bid made, they were waiting for Fulham to offer more than what should have been offered. But hey at the end of the end I prefer a player to arrive at Fulham and play with passion, than a player that it’s just all about the money, and Scott Mctominay seemed like one of those.
Get ANDRE now …. NOW!
