Marco Silva is set to snub Saudi Arabian interest for a second successive summer and stay in charge of Fulham.
Sky Sports News revealed earlier this afternoon that Silva features on a two-man shortlist for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, who are looking for a new manager after the departure of Marcelo Gallardo. Reports from Italy suggest that the former AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli, who is currently unattached, is the favourite to become Al-Ittihad’s new boss.
Al-Ittihad’s salary offer is thought to be around half as lucrative as the two approaches that Silva turned down from Saudi Pro League sides last summer. Silva is said to be preparing for a third successive top flight season at Craven Cottage, having extended his contract until June 2026 last October, and wants to build on the progress he has made since his arrival in south west London.
Would be such a pity to lose Marco, that said, I’m sure his life’s ambition is not to stay at Fulham. for years. Its inevitable he will move on to bigger and better things sometime, just hope it’s not now. You get the feeling he has his own very specific objectives, and good luck to him. We’ve had some good years from him and very little lasts forever.
Having had a meeting with Manchester Ununited he is clearly a man in demand. I still hope he stays at Fulham but he has his hands tied by the dreadful Tony Khan who really does not understand his role.COYW
We have a manager who knows if he stays at Fulham he can achieve something special and if he did not have the backing of the owners he would have moved on as he is a wanted man with big ambitions. I can not wait for this season to start as I want to be part of the ride COYW.
