My father rung me this morning and we got to talking about the Tottenham game. He doesn’t do this often and so I enjoyed the opportunity to talk about it. Having watched it on the telly, he was heavily critical of Stephen Kelly, but I told him he was being a bit harsh.

Regardless of the rights and wrongs of that particular debate, the unexpected discussion ties in nicely with Rich’s post this afternoon about our Irish full-back (who really isn’t as bad as everyone suggests). While I can see Rich’s point – and agree with it – there are a couple of cracking full backs in the reserve and youth-team ranks. Some of Keanu Marsh-Brown’s creativity might be lost by playing him as a right back but he looked a lot more comfortable there than in midfield during the recent FA Youth Cup quarter final against Aston Villa and Cristian Marquez-Sanchez has impressed me when I’ve seen him too.

All that bodes very well indeed.
