Kevin Bremner’s brace put Peterborough United on their way to the second round of the League Cup as they overcome struggling Fulham to record a comfortable aggregate victory at London Road this evening.
The former Brighton striker, who punished a poor error by Laurence Batty to give the Posh a slender lead following the first leg at Craven Cottage, opened the scoring after just four minutes. Bremner turned home a cross from Paul Culpin to give the home side a dream start and Fulham never threatened a revival, even after Kelly Haag had replaced the ineffectual Francis Joseph up front with eighteen minutes remaining.
Bremner struck again four minutes from time to put poor Alan Dicks’ men out of their misery. He rifled another right-footed finish past Batty in the Fulham goal after fine approach play from his strike partner Culpin.
