Cypriot international Ara Bedrossian scored the only goal of the game as Fulham recorded an important victory over Blackpool at Craven Cottage this afternoon.
It looked set to an afternoon of frustration for the Division Two strugglers as Gary Brazil was denied by two superb saves from busy Blackpool goalkeeper Lee Martin. Udo Onwere fired wide after a strong run from midfield, whilst the Tangerines proved dangerous on the break with Kevin Sheedy twice shooting wide from promising positions. Terry Angus was fortunate not to score an own goal when his attempted clearance after Fulham failed to deal with a corner flew fractionally wide of the far post.
Bedrossian, who was coaxed back from Middlesbrough by the club’s supporters earlier this season after an apparent falling out with manager Don Mackay, scored just after the hour mark – finishing precisely with his right foot after being picked out by a perfectly weighted Brazil ball. It might prove just the tonic Fulham need as they strive to avoid the drop.
