Dean Windass scored his seventeenth goal of the season as Hull City humbled Fulham at Craven Cottage this afternoon.

In a gritty encounter, Fulham struggled to test Alan Fettis in the Tigers’ goal with wayward shots from Ara Bedrossian and Sean Farrell proving the sum total of the home side’s attacking threat in a forgettable first half. The visitors were much more inventive with Windass, twice denied by sharp Jim Stannard saves in the first period, causing real problems for Terry Angus and Glen Thomas at the heart of the home defence.

The decisive moment came just before the hour mark when Lee Warren’s through ball cut open the Fulham defence and sent top scorer Windass speeding through on goal. He kept his cool to slip a low shot past the onrushing Stannard and City’s disciplined back four stood firm to record the quintessential away success.
