Carlisle United registered their tenth league victory in fourteen matches with a devastating demolition of a fragile Fulham side at Craven Cottage this afternoon.

David Reeves opened the scoring with a half volley from ten yards out after he had sneaked between Duncan Jupp and Kevin Moore to reach a cross from Rod Thomas on the right wing. The league leaders doubled their lead fifteen minutes later when David Currie whipped in a delightful cross from the left flank and Derek Mountfield stooped to head in at the far post from barely five yards out.

After the break, the visitors made it three with a magnificent length of the pitch move. Simon Davey sauntered down the left wing after Carlisle had passed their way out of their own penalty area before protecting the ball from three challengers and teeing up midfielder Paul Conway, who smashed an unstoppable strike past Jim Stannard and into the top corner from twenty yards out.

Skipper Simon Morgan did grab a consolation for the hosts heading home a Tony Finnigan cross at the far post – but Ian Branfoot’s side were well beaten.
