Full back Ted Charlton, who racked 267 appearances in fourteen years with Fulham, was the club’s first player to play 200 Football League matches. He was a tough tackler, swift across the ground, and an excellent distributor of the ball. Charlton helped the Whites win the Southern League Championship in his first season following a move from Sunderland-based Southwick FC and stayed with the club after the league refused to ratify a move to Glossop. He quickly won his place back from Archie Lindsay and missed just three matches between 1909 and April 1912. He featured in Fulham’s fine run to the FA Cup quarter finals in 1912 when they beat Burnley and Liverpool before losing to West Bromwich Albion.
