Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno will miss out on this summer’s European Championships having been ruled out of the German squad for their home tournament with a shoulder injury.

The former Arsenal custodian, who has forced his way back into the national team squad after two superb seasons since moving to Craven Cottage from Arsenal, has continued to feature for Fulham despite picking up the shoulder problem earlier this season. It is a bitter blow for the 32 year-old, who had been assured by head coach Julian Nagelsmann that would be part of the German squad.

Leno has kept ten clean sheets as Fulham comfortably secured a third successive season in the top flight under Marco Silva. It remains to be seen whether he will feature for the Whites in their final game of the campaign at Luton Town on Sunday.
