You would have expected the ticketing furore to feature in the weekend papers, but the Daily Mail’s Mike Keegan denotes a lack of diversity in the promotion of the well behind schedule Riverside Stand on Saturday.
In this morning’s Sports Agenda column, Keegan writes:
“An advert to promote the facilities featured in the new stand at Fulham’s Craven Cottage has raised a few eyebrows.Â
The ad, by Portview Fit Out Specialists, shows the Thames-facing back of the eye-catching structure, with people enjoying the rooftop pool, sauna, gym and plush living and working spaces. However, one eagle-eyed watcher spotted that almost all of those featured have one thing in common – they all appear to be white.”
Following hot on the heels of the white flags that made the Johnny Haynes Stand look like it was staging a Klu Klux Klan convention rather than the League Cup semi-final on Wednesday, it puts a whole new spin on ‘Come on Whites’.
Did you completely miss all of the black flags? Or doesn’t that fit your narrative?
Indeed
Worst article on Fulham you ever done, waste of space
Daniel Kimberley are you ok? Seriously, this not a normal response to an update. Reach out if you need to talk.
Block e all black flags
I’ve been a Fulham supporter since 1967, I am black. Regarding racism, it’s the one ground I’ve felt safe ever since I first watched us play Macclesfield in a cup game featuring the late great Johnny Haynes. However, there is a point in this article; a London club featuring pictures of people enjoying themselves, ought to reflect the communities around it, which in London is not simply white.
Take a chill pill! Zoe is just reporting on some articles and commentary that has come up over the last week.
The white flags did look a bit KKK when they were all propped up, but it was obviously a mistake and no one’s having a go or saying that Fulham are racist. The other article is linked to a journalist saying that the design company have, perhaps on reflection, not drawn the best designs all things considered. Again, no one’s having a go at the club.
Take a deep breath and let’s try and keep it positive, yeah?
Oh no….let’s all get offended because a country in which 82% of the country is white doesn’t have it’s more than proportional quota of ethnic minorities in an advert. How will we cope? Cancel Craven Cottage now. What a distasteful article. Very disappointed this website gives currency to articles trying to stir up hate.
And Putney waved all the black flags. So what. Bizarre. White shirts, black shorts, i don’t care a hoot.
