Tosh Chamberlain, one of the most special Fulham characters, joined the club in the summer of 1954 and was crucial in persuading his best friend Johnny Haynes to move to Craven Cottage as well. He quickly became a first-team regular after scoring with his very first shot on his debut against Lincoln in November 1954, going on to make more than 200 appearances for the club. He scored an outstanding hat-trick in a 5-4 FA Cup defeat by Newcastle in January 1956, scoring fifteen goals that season and thirteen the following year. He was part of the Fulham side that reached the FA Cup semi-finals in 1958 and won promotion back to the top flight the following season.
Chamberlain left Fulham to join Dover in 1965, worked for Richmond Park and then as a sports teacher in Putney schools as well as being a regular at Craven Cottage. He died aged 86 in January 2021.
