The prospect of Bayern Munich rekindling their interest in Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha in January appears more remote after the German press claimed that they are seeking ‘cheap options’ to sign in the new year.
Palhinha was close to joining the Bundesliga giants in September but the deal was not completed before the German transfer deadline and the 28 year-old has since signed a new contract at Craven Cottage that will run until at least 2028. Fulham have rubbished reports that they would be willing to accept a smaller fee than the one they agreed in the summer – and Bayern are reportedly seeking younger and cheaper alternatives for when the transfer window reopens.
Journalist Christian Falk revealed today:
“The search is still ongoing in the search for a number six, but Palhinha isn’t really hot at the moment either. Bayern want to find cheap solutions in the winter and are looking. Distribution still has priority.”
