Sean Davis admitted that Fulham were made to pay for lapses in concentration at Manchester United this afternoon, but believes insisted the newly promoted club’s performance at Old Trafford contained plenty of positives.
The England under-21 international stunned the champions by creating the game’s opening goal with a beautiful through ball that was expertly finished by Louis Saha and feels Fulham will be full of confidence when they take on Sunderland at Craven Cottage next week despite a disappointing 3-2 defeat.
Davis told Sky Sports after the final whistle:
“We came out firing in the second half. Unfortunately we gave away a couple of goals. We defended well today – except for that lackadaisical spell. We’ve come to the best team in the country and we’ve created a few chances. We could have gone in at half-time 3-0 up. We’ll go into the game against Sunderland (on Wednesday) full of confidence and hope to give the fans a win.”
