Skipper Simon Morgan rescued a point as a below-par Fulham fought back to draw with Chester City at a windy Craven Cottage this afternoon.
The Fulham stalwart redeemed himself with his leveller just before the hour mark having made an uncharacteristic mistake to give the visitors the lead. Morgan misplaced a clearing header, allowing Chris Priest to crash home a venomous volley from 25 yards out just before the half hour mark. Fulham, missing their injured top scorer Mike Conroy, struggled to make much of an impression on the Chester defence before the break.
Morgan celebrated vigorously after volleying home himself from 20 yards out on 58 minutes having been set up by a clever back heel from Martin Thomas. Micky Adams’ side were relieved to take a share of the spoils from a keenly contested game that extended Chester’s unbeaten run to five games – although they dropped down to third-placed after Wigan came from behind to win.
