Fulham have made an enquiry as to the availability of Racing Club midfielder Juan Ignacio Nardoni, according to reports this afternoon.

The Whites want to sign midfield reinforcements before the summer transfer window closes and have identified the tenacious 21 year-old as a potential signing to challenge their regular engine room partnership of Harrison Reed and Joao Palhinha. Nardoni, who can play either as a holding midfielder or a more conventional central midfielder, made 79 first-team appearances for Sante Fe-based Club Atlético Unión before moving to Racing in January for a fee of around £4.9m.

The talented midfielder has played 35 games for Racing to date, scoring twice and providing six assists. Nardoni has made six appearances in this season’s Copa Libertadores, scoring in the group stage win over SD Aucas and making one of the goals in the 4-0 thrashing of Ñublense. He faces a race against time to feature in the quarter final first leg at Boca Juniors next Thursday having missed the second round victory over Atletico Nacional, where Racing overturned a 4-2 first leg deficit, through injury.

Racing are said to value their highly-rated midfield prospect at around £20m – and it remains to be seen whether the Whites would be willing to meet that asking price.
