Fulham beat Championship club Cardiff City 1-0 their first friendly of the summer, which was played behind closed doors at Motspur Park.
An experimental home side, which featured club captain Tom Cairney in midfield, controlled the majority of the contest but couldn’t build the only goal of the game scored by Brazilian centre forward Carlos Vinicius. Issa Diop impressed with typically powerful defending, but the low-tempo contest was largely used by both sides for fitness ahead of their pre-season tours.
The Whites will fly out to the United States next Thursday to participate in the Premier League’s Summer Series which sees them face Brentford, Aston Villa and Chelsea in the space of seven days.
